Indian Cyclists Network

I wrote a detailed post about my experience with Delhi's Cyclothon on August 29. It was good to see the number of participants and the enthusiasm, but all of it wasn't enough to make up for the mismanagement and faulty planning. The entire post can be seen here: http://blogs.timesofindia.indiatimes.com/randomaccess/entry/how-to-...

Rajesh - Indeed a nice article, very exciting to read. I was trying to put in my comments but was unfortunate..it said, I was spamming :-)

There is no denial of fact of much mismanaged it was but I would still like to focus on positives, I felt good participating there. It will take ages for us to manage these events unless we have it done by professionals and not take a it from "ho Jaaeyga" approach.

Anool - I like that comment: "dear ears, blind eyes, motor mouths and slimy hands". Very apt!

I almost read the title as 'How to mess up a country'. One needs to be a die hard optimist to believe that things will ever change for better in this country. Mismanaging a cycling event, behavior of some of cyclists is all but few symptoms. Larger problem is more fundamental and from the core. The root causes as they say. If only someone could do a fishbone analysis on this country. Unless root causes are sorted out, anything else will just be plain ineffective.

" If this city, indeed this country, wants to encourage a sporting culture, there needs to be a considerable mindset change."
-Absolutely agree with this statement of yours. And I have to very frankly admit that I foresee the CWG is going to a disaster and a very very bad smack on this country. Frankly we could have done a better job preparing and participating with all that infra than "organizing" it.. Its going to be badd.. terrible embarrassment to say the least.

well written. pathetic organization, to say the least. When the powers that be have deaf ears, blind eyes, motor mouths, and slimy hands, it would be a crime to expect any better.
