Extra ordinary ride onthe 8th from pune to panvel

I have been cycling for a month now and was all exicted to join the group of harkeet, zubair, faizal mahesh and vishal along with two cars since we went to pune by our cars....

The ride stated just perfectly ,I was in good spirits and was cycling at a decent pace after a 25kms flat road ride and a climb i encountered a superb long down hill decided to peddle on the higest gear down hill and i was sucessfull in attaining the highest speed on my cycle that is 60.25 kmph. i new the actual down hill was yet to come and wished to better my speed in that down hill...after a while we hit the down hill about 3 mins of down hill got me to around 50 kmph when i saw my group guys two of them stopping ahead......(first mistake i took my eyes of the road) and i was looking at them as to why did they stop, in the mean time my cycle hit a pot hole on the road at that speed my hands bounced off the handle and the wheels turned ..and before i could understand anything i was flat on the ground crash landing on the road....(second mistake always hold your handle bar tight specially on a down hill) i must say that the group i was riding with was a very street smart group ....harkeet was the first one to shown his presence of mind he immidietly without wasting even a second dragged me from the center of the road to the side....every one else came running towards me and started asking for my welbeing ...initally i was irrated as i needed to collect my self before i could put in my energy to answering all the six of them .......i was feeling very dizzy my head had literally seeing stars and i was about the collpase i took support of a bridge pillar and tried to lie on the flat surface to gather my self as those questions from my wellwishers kept pouring in and i was literaly angry since i had no energy to answere them.....in retrospect i am happy since they keept nagging because it kept my mind alive and not faint since the brain after processing the sentence reacts whether positive or negitive it helps you to stay concious...... anyways zubar and harkeet decided to give me support for me to hop on to the support vehicle and that is when i suddenly fainted ...all concious lost my eyes wide open but no reaction ....zubair started pumping my heart others tried to shout and get my attention ....vishal due to his presence of mind suddenly splashed water onto my face that give me a jurk and got me back to conciousness......thanks a million vishal.... then i was on to the car and it was so heartining to see every one get me water and other essentials to get me back my lost energy vishal also bought me a pain killer to help me to reduce the pain ......felt like one family and wampth anyways i sat on the car and others started riding  as the car followed be reached kapholi and took a lunch break ,i had recoved quiet a bit as i decided to join them for lunch as i got down from the car i felt ok except the pain from the bruses i got on my hand legs and my lower back ,sorry i forgot to mention a very important thing in that mishap if it was not for my helmet i would have definitely been in a icu by now it helped to protect my head completely as the back portion of the helmet broke off completely after impact .hence forth all the guys who took time to read this blog get one thing very clear do not ride without a helmet is the most imp thing after u buy a bike is the helmet before you buy any gismos

getting back to the lunch incident as i started walking i again got dizzy again and almost fell down i guess i had not recovered from the shock mishap anyways i decided not to lunch but zubair insited me to have some thing even if i dont fell like since it would give me energy i finally listened to his insistance and ate which gave me good recovery  and we moved on towards panvel.

in the evening i went to the doc got injected with tetinus and few tablets i am back to work today but i guess i will take a break now after writing this blog and take rest for me to recover completely as my lower back is in a lot of pain yet.......

my special thanks goes out to specially three people who helped me to do the right thing at the right time first is harkeet to get me on the side of the road second vishal for splashing water onto my face to get me concious and to provide me with pain killers and thirdly zubair to insist me to eat lunch that gave me a lot of recovery.......

lessons learnt

1>always wear a helmet however small a ride it may be

2>never take off your eyes from the road even for a second

3>hold the handle bar tightly specially on a down hill

4>always try to glide in a down hill (with full control on speed)and avoiding pedeling since more the momentum you gain harder it is for you to control and specially if you have disk breaks it is all the more imp for you to go on a lower speed as sudden breaking with powerfull breaking on a high speed is life taking.

5>on long rides always have company since that proved a life saver for me.

6> very sensable to mantain a uniform speed over long distances, told to me by my very good friend anil uchit that if i had given importance would have avoided the mishap yesterday.

my special thanks to all those great souls that accompanied me on yesterdays ride  harkeet, zubair, faizal mahesh and vishal due to them i have enriched my life in a positive way ...mishaps can definitely be a wake up call in a positive way in life

thanks all :)

Rafi, I like ur "Never Say Die" Spirit.  Even with so much happening , I guess u must be thinking "When can I Ride and try new routes again !!". Harkeet, Vishal, zubair, Faisal and Mahesh. thnx for being there and looking after him and helping him get out of the jam.  Friends the speed at which you should ride is the speed at which u can control the bike.  Good Blog, very precise and helpful to others. Thanx a lot Rafi.  God Bless U.

ANOTHER  THING I WOULD LIKE TO SHARE IS NEVER BUY A CYCLE WITH DISK BREAKS SINCE IN HIGH SPEED DISK BREAKS MOST OFTEN THEN NOT MAY PROVE TO BE DANGERIOUS DUE TO ADDED POWER OF BREAKING WITH NORMAL BREAKS YOU NORMALLY GET USED TO BREAKING WELL IN ADVANCE SINCE U KNOW THAT THE CYCLE WILL TRAVEL A DISTANCE BEFORE STOPPING SO I WOULD ADVICE  A V BREAK AT THE MAXIMUM WHILE BUYING YOUR BIKE
