"CYCLING IS NOT A CHEAP SPORT OR TRANSPORT IN "First World Country's"

I will be visiting some European City's in May 2010 on a "Holiday Tour", spending a few days in London. Having done my " Tour research work" i was surprised of the cost of hiring a cycle in London, astronomical to we indians, accustomed to the "bicycle" as a "Poor humans transport" or a "Rich humans Hobby" in the 21st century. I have pasted below the "advertisement' of a "Tourist Biking enterprise" in London City for the benifit of fellow cyclists.

I definitely appreciate the value of a cycle and cycling, especially, realising the cheapness of this simple vehicle on Mumbai's congested roads.

Anool, thanks for the information, thats the benifit of "Internet social sites".. i am really surprised of the Rs 1300 charges for the "Half Day Mumbai cycle tour", real expensive, but i think they might also be profiding refreshments or lunch, etc.

20 quid for just one hour seems steep. Mainland Europe is more Cycle friendly, I guess. I did a half day Munich Bike tour for 18Euro. In Florence, you can hire a MTB (Bianchi Doss, yay) for the whole day for about 20Euro. In Rome, the TramBusOpen 110 gives you 24 hour access to the hop on, hop off Red Bus for about 19Euro. Amsterdam and Paris are Cycle friendly too, as are most other European cities.

(I didn't take Mike's tour - found another cheaper option - just land up on Marienplatz near the old Town Hall and you'll find it)
Then, there's Viator and BikeToursDirect :

A recent half day Cycle tour in Mumbai was advertised at around 1300 bucks - so the European tours are almost at par.

I'm sure if you hunt around, getting a half day Bike tour within 20$ should be possible.
