1975 (Air Force Station Hindon - I Got Wings) - I got a cycle when I was about 9 yrs old, in Hindon, near Delhi. More than 30 yrs later and i can still recall the sense of exhilaration at that moment, and remember a lot of details from that day! with the cycling came mobility, liberation and emancipation!
1976-1991 (BOMBAY - Deepfelt Deprivation) - unfortunately we moved to bombay very soon, my cycle was sold, my parents felt bombay was too unsafe for me to cycle in, so it was never replaced.
1992 (PUNE - Making up for Lost Time) - i grew up not knowing how much i missed it, until 15 yrs later, in my late twenties, i moved to Pune!! within the first month i had bought a cycle and by the end of the year i had discovered all the routes in the area that led out to the lakes and into the hills! WOO HOO!
1995-1999 (PUNE - Making Babies) - The bike was abandoned for Babies, gladly this time, to focus my energies on a most fulfilling and irreplaceable experience!
1999-2001 (PUNE - Spreading My Wings Again) - Back on my cycle, i got a renewed sense of emancipation and liberty, during a very trying period spent acquiring a Divorce. I firmly believe that my cycle was a source of strength for me, my character, my soul!
2001-NOW (No Turning Back) - Other than forced breaks to recover from an accident or two, I haven't stopped cycling in these 10 years. i love to tour the countryside on cycle and also enjoy the challenge of training and taking part in organised events like triathlons, Enduro3, Randonneuring etc. Cycling has been a strong factor in my evolution as a human being attempting to live in peace with Nature.
