I left Darjeeling at the beginning of October and am now about halfway through my cycle journey down the east of India, having passed through Mirik, Malda and Gaur (wonderful old temples!), murshidabad, bishnupur and puri. I'm just about to leave Vizag, having covered about 1750 km, with 1500 to go to reach Kanyakumari.

Yesterday I rode from Mirik down to Siliguri. Today from Siliguri to Islampur. Two very different days.
The ride from Mirik was almost all downhill for the first half of the trip, on the brakes all the time, rough roads and gravel. Spectacular, though, despite clouds obscuring the best views. Then it was level, and busy, into Siliguri. A great day, though.

Rode from Darjeeling to Mirik yesterday. Lots of up and down, fortunately more of the down. Feeling weary today but no specific aches and pains. A beautiful ride, through the forest in the clouds. There should have been views of the mountains but the skies don't seem to be clearing this year...
