Superbly written, Amit. And a very practical tone of voice, which makes it very attemptable. I will start with a Friday ride and see how it goes.

@Amit - To fight the pollution, there are a variety of masks available... I've never used any, so I wouldn't be able to comment on them... I trust your bike has a carrier, so you can strap the bag (containing your samples) on to it...

@Mallik - Ah, I was lucky, I guess... the Kensington cable I'm using is not the one I used for my laptop... this one was left behind a few years ago by a visiting colleague from the US... I couldn't use it for my laptop, but I figured it would be a…

My current bike model / type:
Raleigh Ridge Disc
My favourite ride so far:
Mumbai-Goa-Mangalore-Dharmasthala-Bangalore-Andhra (NH17, NH48 and NH4); Mahalaxmi to Dahanu and back (the Randonneurs - Audax ride); Pune to Mumbai on NH4 (the old ghats road); Pondicherry to Chennai on the ECR; Mulund to Uttan (via Aarey, Malad, Marve, Manori, Esselworld); Offroading at Waagbeel; night rides across Mumbai; night rides to Panvel; climbing the Kharghar hill and the gravity ride downhill at 50+ km/hr (during the Chembur-Kharghar ride); the 'Batata Wada' ride (to Falaspa-phata)!; climbing the Yeoor hill and zipping downhill! The Tour de Aarey (with its "mild climb")! :-)
A bit about myself:

Just call me BOSS - a "Bum On Saddle/Seat"
Or, to wax more eloquent:
"Heart on nature,
hands on the handle,
mind on the road,
I'm just a Bum On a Saddle!" :-)

Enjoying life - every moment of it - to the fullest! :-)

Age: 39 years; spent the last 29 of those on the saddle (all kinds - cycle, bike, camel and horse). My clients are quite used to me riding right across town for our meetings. :-)

Lone Rider; but happy to provide company to those who want it. :-)

A Corp Comm pro - After working for others since 1993, I now work for myself... in every sense of the term. :-)

Fav pastime: When not on the saddle, spending fun times with family, esp'ly my 8-year-old daughter (who's nuts about cycling too - wants to join me on my long solo jaunts!) and my wife (who likes cycling but prefers walking...) :-)

I enjoy music, I compose, sing, dance, write, act... but hey, why make a song-n-dance of it, eh!

Foodie... not gourmet, just a plain ol' hog! Paani-puri, anyone? (Thank God for cycling, else i prob'ly wouldnt fit thru my main door!) :-)

Keep smiling. Ride safe. Have fun. :)

Waagbeel - off-road, off-beat, off-icially cool! :-)

Offroading... within the city... well, almost!

Who would have thought it... that one could enjoy a perfectly wonderful offroading experience so close to home – and that too, such a beautiful, serene ride – within a few kilometres of where I live (Mulund – a happy, happening suburb in Mumbai).

As usual, I have someone else to thank for this experience – this time, it was Jo (a quick intro is called for here - I guess I could call him a ship-and-shop guy – he’s an ex-merchant navy pro who’s now… Continue

Hi Anil, you have an eye for what makes a good picture. And you had the best vantage point this time, Kasara - the view of rail......etc. It was a very interesting photo essay of your journey. Keep up the good work. However I wish if you could take the pains to explain your shots and maybe if you could add some videos! Once again good job Anil. It was as if I was there enjoying the ride with you. Thank you.
